距2008年奥运会开幕只有1年多的时间。届时，世界各地的游客将拥入国内，英语尤其是口语的使用频率将会大大提升。奥运会是众多国外游客进入中国的主题，与奥运会、住宿、餐饮、交通、旅游为主要内容的交流需求将会迅速增加。从时间上来看，由于外语学习的进步需要一个长期渐进的过程，尤其口语的进步更需要反复不断的交流才能实现。对于仅剩16个月就要到来的北京奥运会而言，英语培训业的发展从时间上显然难以与奥运需求同步。

2.英语培训与奥运需求在空间上的不同步

奥运对英语培训业的需求是全方位的，是“全民” 的英语。然而可惜的是，目前我国众多英语培训机构还在将市场重点定位在各种升学和资质认证需求方面；英语培训产业多集中在大中城市发展，城镇和农村范围内的发展明显不足；培训对象多为具有正式稳定工作的学习人员，如学生、教师、技术人员、企业管理人员、外企员工等，而自由职业者、离退休人员及普通市民等则很少。人文奥运需求下向国外来客展现我国居民文化素质水平的愿望难以全面体现，英语培训业在空间上表现出了与奥运需求的不同步现象。

3.英语培训与奥运需求在技术上的不同步

在英语培训形式上，面对众多不同类型的培训对象，完全采用传统面授方式是无法达成预期培训任务和效果的，采用数字化培训方式是必然趋势。据调查发现，仅有9%的英语培训机构使用了网络英语平台培训这一新的教学模式，现代科学的成果还没有被广泛应用于英语培训业中，在倡导科技奥运的今天，英语培训业在技术上发展相对滞后。

4.英语培训与奥运需求在意识上的不同步

三、奥运需求下英语培训业的发展对策

1.政府要对英语培训机构负起监管和扶持的宏观调控的责任，既要让培训组织沿着产业化、法制化的轨道，真正形成依托市场、自我发展、自负盈亏的服务行业，还要利用行政力量适度引导英语培训业的良性发展，以满足社会的需求和各类培训机构和学员的利益。

2.要把传统的面授培训和网络远程培训结合起来，把传统的课本与音像、影像等数字科技结合起来，实现资源互补，各取所长。

3.针对专业性很强的领域，开发的专门的教材和辅导材料，配备专门的老师，让英语培训成为普遍，覆盖到社会的每一领域。
